<p>Jogging is usually an exercise program followed by athletes and sportspersons. But even ordinary people can choose this fitness program for their general body fitness. But before starting this fitness program you need to consult a physician to confirm that you are healthy. After the checkup you can start running during the mornings or evenings and continue it until you feel fatigued. Gradually increase your timings and choose a place where you can continuously run for at least thirty minutes.</p>
<p>
Select a day in a week for running fast; it may be done on Wednesdays. Start off slowly and gradually increase the speed until you feel exhausted and your muscles become heavy. Slow down again till you breathe normally and start with speed again. Repeat this till your legs become heavy.</p>
<p>
You may take a day off if you feel exhausted. Probably on Sundays you can jog a longer stretch. Start off with a 30-minute run and go on extending, week after week till you are able to run up to 90 minutes. Let Monday be a holiday and on Tuesday run slowly. On Wednesday take time to run faster.</p>
<p>
Even if you are engaged in the other programs like rowing, cycling, swimming follow the same schedule.</p>

<p>The most important muscle in the body is the heart. Yet, many people who workout seem to think they dont need to do cardio. Cardiovascular (or cardio) exercise has numerous health benefits. In addition to burning calories and lowering your body fat, it will strengthen your heart and lungs. Since heart disease is the leading cause of premature death for both men and women, cardiovascular fitness is a very important and should never be over looked.</p>
<p>
Most experts agree that cardiovascular training should last for 20 to 60 minutes, with the norm being 30 to 40 minutes. It should be performed a minimum of three days per week, with four to five days being optimal and six being the max. In order for an exercise to be considered &#8220;cardiovascular&#8221; or &#8220;aerobic,&#8221; it needs to elevate your heart rate to 60 to 85 percent of its maximum rate (the fastest it could possibly beat). This means that when you are in the Zone, you should still be able to talk but not carry on a long conversation.</p>
<p>
For a complete fitness experience, weight training and cardiovascular training should share equal parts in your workout routine. With regular cardio workouts, you&#8217;ll find that you have enough stamina to give your weight training a better effort. Just begin your conditioning by picking an activity and work on exercising intensely enough to raise your heart rate and keep it elevated.</p>

<p><b>Fitness Aerobic - Training</b></p>

<p>Fitness in general includes both aerobic and anaerobic aspects. According to the priorities of the sportsman, one or the other of the two aspects will be emphasized, but the second one will not be neglected. The purpose of doing fitness exercises is, ideally, to create a complete athlete, able to face various physical and psychological demands.</p>
<p>
The object of aerobic fitness is the so-called cardio training, a term which refers to the cardio-vascular system and the heart muscle (myocardium). We&#8217;ll talk about trainings which do not make oxygen duty and which are generally called &#8216;trainings of aerobic effort&#8217;. More exactly, they refer to efforts which take a long time (more than 12 minutes)  usually they take between 20 and 60 minutes and they determine acceleration of cardiac frequency and lung ventilation. Efficiency in training requires a frequency between 60-80% of the maximum cardiac frequency (calculated according to the formula 720-age  in years).</p>
<p>
The typical exercises of aerobic fitness come from classic resistance sports (long distance running, cycling, swimming, fast walking, etc.) and from different aerobic training programs (aerobic gymnastics, step-aerobic, tae-bo, dance, etc.).</p>
<p>
Aerobic fitness uses specific cardio machines: treadmill, classic or elliptical trainer, stepper,etc. Dosing the aerobic effort depends on the somatic type and the actual objectives of each sportsman.</p>
<p>
Normally, the ectomorphic and mezomorphic types, which do not accumulate large quantities of subcutaneous adipose tissue, will need to practice for a rather short time (20-30 minutes per training in two or three trainings a week, in non-consecutive days). This time is necessary for realizing an effective cardiac stimulation, without the risk of losing muscular mass.</p>
<p>
For the endomorphic somatic type, &#8216;benefiting&#8217; of a lot of adipose tissue, aerobic training must last 45-60 minutes and needs to take place 4-6 times a week.</p>
<p>
Even if trainings are extended (time, miles) and they are more frequent, their intensity, which is given by the cardiac rhythm per training, must remain high, so finally the body burns as many calories as possible. It is well-known that only after 20-30 minutes the body starts to mobilize the fat &#8216;deposits&#8217;. Before this, at the beginning of the training, the energetic support of the aerobic effort is ensured by the muscular and hepatic glycogen, the same as in anaerobic efforts, which are supported exclusively by the glycogen from the muscles and the liver.</p>
<p>
This is one of the main reasons for recommending, in programs designed for losing weight, aerobic exercises  they are the biggest and fastest &#8216;fat burners&#8217;. Of course, the other big benefits of these exercises appear at the cardiovascular, pulmonary, psychological and other levels.</p>
<p>
A real euphoria is observed at the psychological level during aerobic training. This is motivated by the big number of endorphins produced in the body by this type of effort. Endorphins, also called hormones of happiness, are not produced in such a big quantity during anaerobic effort. Anaerobic training determines a big release of catecholamine (adrenaline, noradrenalin), which are considered stress hormones.</p>
<p>
A disadvantage of aerobic fitness is, first of all, non-developing a strong and fortified musculature, because of the reduced muscle efforts. We can also observe (and must resist) the monotony of the training, which is long and repetitive.</p>
<p>
However, generally speaking, the advantages of aerobic fitness are remarkable and irreplaceable.</p>

<p><b>Cardio Smardio, What is Smart Cardio?</b></p>

It may be the one type of exercise dreaded most of all. . .cardio. You hear it over and over again, I gotta get my cardio in. . . In my home gym (or if you prefer fitness center) the cardio equipment is upstairs on a (large) loft that overlooks the weight equipment. So folks here say it this way, I gotta go upstairs. </p>
<p>
No matter how its said most people dont like it. Well, the fact is its usually boring. Excruciatingly boring. Thats why more modern fitness centers have TVs to watch, or even provide free magazines (you know. . .the ones showing you all the secrets to looking like Mr. or Ms. Super-Space-Commander-Hard-Body) to read. </p>
<p>
But the truth is, it does NOT have to be this way. You can decide (actually you have already decided . . .most just dont know it) how effective, and exciting your cardio workout will be. </p>
<p>
Lets start out with what you want to accomplish. Most do cardio to burn calories, and, as a result, burn off excess body fat. Great, now how to best accomplish getting down a few inches without spending HOURS on the elliptical. </p>
<p>
If fat burning is your primary reason for picking cardio there is no better time than doing your cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Your blood sugar is at its lowest point so the body turns to burning fat for fuel. Nice. </p>
<p>
However, if you arent a morning person dont despair. If you combine your resistance training and cardio in the same session, do your resistance training first. Your glycogen (carbohydrates stored in the muscle and liver) will be depleted after your weight training because it uses glycogen first for muscle fuel. Then your body turns to your fat stores for energy during your cardio. </p>
<p>
Another way to mimic the morning routine (almost as well) is to get your cardio in on an empty stomach. Remember from an earlier chapter, an empty stomach is defined as 2 hours after you last meal and 1 hour before your next. So if you get to the gym at 5:45 PM just make sure you dont eat anything after 3:30 PM. Even better, make sure your mid-afternoon snack is high in protein because then your metabolism goes into overdrive to digest the protein without having any carbohydrates to replenish your glycogen. </p>
<p>
Even though this book is about you learning how to keep your gym time to a minimum, I would not be fair to you if I failed to mention 2 cardio sessions a day. Why? Because some of us have a harder time than others in getting our body fat to acceptable levels. If thats you, and you can find the time, 2 cardio sessions of 30 - 45 minutes each can really accelerate the fat burn. In fact when I have significant amounts of fat to lose I do 2 cardio sessions daily until my goal was reached. Only then do I back off to 1 session a day. </p>

<p>Have you ever noticed people getting ready for any sporting event, to get the best performance from their bodies they always warm it up first to get the blood flowing.</p>

But what about the lungs? Its all good and well getting your body ready for a good workout but if the supply of oxygen to the muscles is poor because of bad breathing habits its easy to see youre not going to get the best from them.</p>
<p>
Here are some tips to start you on the right path.</p>
<p>
 Make sure you get in the habit of setting aside some extra time to do a little breathing exercise to prepare your lungs for the job ahead. It wont take as long as your stretching exercises but its just as important if not more. For the first 5-10 minutes do a little amount of walking as youre doing this focus on your breathing.</p>
<p>
Start to relax your belly on the inhale this allows your diaphragm to go down into its fullest position and thus fill your lungs to fill to a greater capacity. Then on the exhale retract your belly back in towards your spine thus helping the diaphragm to fully contract and empty the lungs better. (you want to get as much of that stale air out as possible before you breathe in again!) It may take a little while to get use to doing this but stick with it and remember how much youre muscles are going to thank you for this added oxygen flow.</p>
<p>
 When youre out on your run try to breathe for as long as possible through your nose, this filters unwanted debris out of your air ways and helps to warm the air in the nasal cavity before it enters your lungs (especially important on those cold mornings.)</p>
<p>
These new breathing techniques may be hard at first to get used to but your body will adapt over time. You may even notice a difference in your running times,.. you might not be setting world record times but hey who knows what might happen??</p>

<p><b>Just Say &#8220;No&#8221; To Traditional Cardio!</b></p>

<p>Youve celebrated the New Year, made your resolutions and are now gearing up to attain your latest goals. Youre full of vim and vigor. This time youre really going to lose those 10 pounds. OK, make that 20 - but this time youre going to do it right and hit it hard.</p>
<p>
To legitimize your effort, some of you might join a gym or hire a personal trainer, others may sign up with a boot camp or seek out the latest hip-hop trend. But after reading some articles and soaking up the advice of the celebrity trainers, most of you will actually decide to go it alone. After all, as long as you go cardio. you might as well go it alone, right? So this time youre ready to run for your life! Uh-oh.</p>
<p>
While the current buzz claims that the more cardiovascular exercises you do, the faster youll lose those unwanted pounds, for some of you, aerobic-based fitness programs can actually backfire.</p>
<p>
The main reason that cardio workouts are promoted as a panacea for fat loss is because of their calorie burning ability. But before you run for the gold there are a few basic facts that you should take to heart.</p>
<p>
1. Cardiovascular exercise generally involves a highly repetitive movement pattern. In running, for example, one foot after the other hits the pavement or the track or the treadmill with relentless consistency. But according to Newtons Third Law: &#8220;For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.&#8221; So for every step you strike against the pavement, the pavement strikes you back! Your joints will absorb each blow and if theyre not strong and balanced, chronic and painful injuries are guaranteed. Then if you mask those injuries with painkillers, rather than address them with corrective exercise and lifestyle modifications, you might as well run yourself straight to the nearest hospital. Surgery will surely be scheduled soon!</p>
<p>
2. Cardiovascular exercise is catabolic (tissue destructive) by nature. According to the latest research, while short bursts of cardio activity can help you in your fight against fat, prolonged cardio activity can actually weaken your immune system and cause your muscle to waste away. Did you ever compare the physiques of the sprinter with that of the long-distance runner? Lean, powerful, beautiful vs. sickly, starving, emaciated. Did you ever wonder why? Tissue destructive</p>
<p>
Does that mean that you can never attain a leaner and healthier look on your own? Of course not. It means that you cant do it by running your heart out for 40 minutes every day after work. You can run but you cant hide from the proven rules of proper exercise.</p>
<p>
Consider the following:</p>
<p>
1. Address your diet first.<br />
2. Start simple. Walking is an extremely power tool.<br />
3. Incorporate a resistance training program into your schedule. Resistance training is anabolic (tissue building) by nature and will also help to increase your metabolism.<br />
4. Always keep your body guessing by alternating your cardio activities.<br />
5. Consider Interval Training (short bursts of cardio followed by low intensity cardio for recovery) but only after your body is strong enough to handle it.</p>
<p>
Now youre ready to make it a happy and, particularly, healthy New Year. This time youre ready to hit it smart. Then you can hit it hard.</p>

<p>It doesnt matter what your age or ability, anyone who wants to can start running for fitness. It does not appeal to everyone, but it does not take a lot of special equipment or know how to do. Running is a great way to improve your cardiovascular health as well as helping you to maintain a healthy weight. You can run a lot or a little. You can run inside or out. You can go running with other people or by yourself. Here are some tips to get you started:</p>
<p>
1. Talk to a doctor or another qualified health professional before you start any type of running program. They will be able to help you assess your current fitness level and will give you guidelines for how much to exercise and nutrition advice as well.</p>
<p>
2. Your clothing and shoes will be really your most important running equipment. But, you dont necessarily have to go out and buy all new stuff once you start to run. Clothing should be appropriate for the weather and climate if you are going to run outside. Your shoes should be comfortable and fit well. Once you start to run for longer distances you may want to purchase some better quality shoes with advice from a specialty running shoe store.</p>
<p>
3. Warm up before you start to run. This will get your body ready for the increased activity and will help to limit injuries. Stretch your calves and thigh muscles and walk briskly to get your heart rate up.</p>
<p>
4. In the beginning you can alternate walking briskly and running for short distances to get accustomed to the activity. If you are new to exercise, you should probably only go for 10 to 20 minutes for the first few times out.</p>
<p>
5. Set goals that are reasonable. If you want to do a 5K run, then set little more manageable goals that you can do to reach your big goal. If you are too ambitious in your start, you may burn out too quickly and not reach your goal.</p>
<p>
6. Cool down at the end of your run. Stretch again and walk slowly. This will help to keep you from getting sore muscles and limit injury as well as increasing flexibility.</p>
<p>
7. Eat right. Give your body good nutritious fuel to work with. Use a calorie calculator online to find out how much you will need for weight management or loss.</p>
